miker , of course you are right , very negative of me i'm sure many will succeed i suppose i can be a bit too much of a realist sometimes but the figures speak for themselves we are all dreaming but yet again are all convinced ours will be the dream come true and i'm sure for some of us this will be the case , i'm not usually so critical of others , live and let live and all that but i swear i've been wanting to say something about that tyler bloke for a while now i cant remember the last time he said something positive ...felt i was just saying what we are all thinking , anyway will waste no more time dwelling on his
insecurities , anyway most statistics are made up on the spot anyway , how about 85% ?? i'm sure thats not far off the mark...!

What is this place here for? It's to help out people with an interest in filmmaking. Part of that help is to be positive and supporting with our words.
Constructive criticism is always welcome but questioning motives is pointless.
Now I have no beef with Foster Tyler. I would never let his or anyones negative words discourgae me, but I do think his personal crusade to rid the world (Or this messageboard) of filmmaking weaklings will not work and only succede in pissing people off.
People keep saying that everyone wants to be a director. I don't think thats true. I never meet these people, and I meet a lot of people.
Most filmmaking forums are dead compared to other topics. I really think that the amount of people who seriously think about filmmaking is very small.
BTW, where have you been Wide Awake?

Take a look my first post on this topic. I was in no way trying to be insulting. Just realistic. I was trying to help. It was only AFTER the reactions I recieved that I decided to stoop down to various certain levels of attitude and intelligence.
If I offend anybody here, well.....tough titty. What are you going to do about it? None of you will silence me.

Oh joy, another topic that has descended into a slanging match!
N Foster Tyler I dont care how much you believe in film as an art form - you're a dick. Just what the fuck is wrong with being British anyways?
In answer to the actual topic of this post - I live in Southampton, don't know a lot about producing a film, but hey e-mail me and I might be able to help!? What's the project about?

All,
I'd just like to say that perhaps we have taken this a bit far. Mr Tyler is, indeed, entitled to his opinion. Mr Tyler is obviously a realist who has been burned once too often by the industry and nows the real problems that face a film-maker. Fair enough. I doesn't, however, say that we all feel this way or will end up this way. I've had all the "film is a tough industry" stuff thrown at me and I'm still going. That's what counts. It's just unusual to find it on this site is all. This board is all about, us helping ourselves against those who do not wish new blood to invade their closely guarded industry. But we're all here to give it a damn good try.
And all that coming from a 22 year old.

erm, wasnt this topic about a budding film maker wanting a producer? how the fuck did it descend down into an argumanet with tyler to an argument aboput being canadian / british? We all know this film making thing is hard as hell and we all so badly want to make a great movie that everyone loves that you and everyone you know ill be proud of. This post board should be for us to offer help, give advice, and to see what everyone else is doing, it should be posative, but I get the feeling that like so many other poeple have said, it turns into a slagging match. now lets say we forget all this bullshit and be posative about our movie making dreams? anyone agree?
